PART 1: Dialogue (Tom and a Travel Agent)
Agent: Good morning, Highland Travel. How can I help you?
Tom: Hi, I’d like to book a tour for my class group. We are studying biology, so we want to see the flora and fauna of the area.
Agent: Great! I highly recommend the "Highland Experience". It’s very popular with student groups. You start by visiting the orchid garden, and then you go riding a jeep all the way to the mountain top. It’s quite thrilling.
Tom: Riding a jeep sounds brilliant. When is the tour available?
Agent: We usually run this tour on Fridays. However, the guide is busy this Friday, so we have moved it to Saturday. Is that okay for you?
Tom: Saturday actually works better for us. How much is the ticket?
Agent: The standard price for adults is $50.
Tom: Oh, that’s a bit expensive. As I mentioned, we are all high school students.
Agent: Ah, I see. For students, we have a special discount. It is $40 per person.
Tom: Perfect. Who will be our guide?
Agent: You will be with our senior guide. His name is Mr. Baxley.
Tom: Can you spell that for me, please?
Agent: Sure. It is B-A-X-L-E-Y. Baxley. He knows everything about the local history and nature.
Tom: Great. Do we need to bring lunch?
Agent: No, don't worry about food. We provide a local lunch at the village. But you should bring a camera. The view from the peak is memorable, and you’ll want to take photos.
PART 2: Monologue (Alex talking to his class)
Alex: Hi everyone. Today, I want to share my experience from the summer camp I attended last month. To be honest, at first, I didn't want to go. My mom signed me up for an "army-like" camp. I thought it would be too strict and unpleasant, but actually, it turned out to be an amazing experience.
We did a lot of interesting activities. We practised putting up tents, which was hard work but fun. We also went exploring the seabed near the coast. That was cool, but the best part for me was the evening when we sat around the fire and watched a tribal dance performed by the local people. It was so energetic!
However, I did have one embarrassing moment. On the second day, while we were touring a campus of a nearby university, I was looking at a map and didn't see the steps. I fell right in front of everyone! Luckily, I didn't hurt myself, just my pride.
Overall, the camp changed me. I used to be shy and didn't like talking to strangers. But after working in teams, I feel I have much more confidence now.
Our club leader said we have finished the beach tour. Next year, instead of visiting a national park, we plan to go to a coral reef to learn more about marine life. I can't wait!
