PART 1: Dialogue (Harry and Mrs. Collins)
Mrs. Collins: Good morning, School Sports Office. Mrs. Collins speaking.
Harry: Hello, Mrs. Collins. This is Harry. I’m calling to ask about the summer water sports course. I want to try something new this holiday.
Mrs. Collins: Oh, hello Harry. We have a few options. We have a sailing class and a snorkelling class.
Harry: I’ve done sailing before. I’d love to try snorkelling. Is there a class for beginners?
Mrs. Collins: Yes, the snorkelling course is perfect for you.
Harry: Great. When does it start?
Mrs. Collins: Let me check. We have a group starting on July 5th, but that one is full. The next available one starts on July 15th.
Harry: July 15th is fine. I finish my exams by then. How much is the fee?
Mrs. Collins: It is normally £100, but since you are a student at our school, you get a discount. It is £85 for you.
Harry: That’s a good price. Do I need to register now?
Mrs. Collins: Yes, please. I just need your surname to put on the list. Is it Harry Potter?
Harry: (Laughs) No, not Potter. It’s Knight. K-N-I-G-H-T.
Mrs. Collins: Got it. K-N-I-G-H-T. Okay, Harry. We provide the wetsuit and the mask. You just need to bring a towel and some water.
Harry: Okay, I will bring a towel. Thanks, Mrs. Collins!
PART 2: Monologue (Jessica)
Jessica: Hi everyone. I want to tell you about the eco-tour I took last weekend. It was a special trip because usually, I travel with my parents, but this time I went with my classmates and our biology teacher.
We went to a national park to learn about the local nature. To be honest, I was hoping to see some large animals, like deer or monkeys. However, our guide said they are very shy. We waited quietly, but we didn't see any large fauna. I was a little sad about that, but the flora was amazing. We saw so many rare flowers.
Before we left, I checked the forecast and it said "heavy rain", so I was worried it would be an unpleasant experience. But luckily, the forecast was wrong! The sun was shining all day and the weather was brilliant.
We did a lot of things, like cleaning the walking paths and collecting trash. But the most memorable part for me was planting trees. We planted over 50 small trees on the hill. I felt so proud.
I took a lot of pictures of the team. I haven't put them on the website yet because I need to edit them. I will upload them tonight so you can all see.
