Part 1
Chloe: Hi Liam. You look worried. Everything alright?
Liam: Hey Chloe. I'm just feeling really stressed out. I've got a couple of big due dates coming up, plus that Geography test on Friday. I don't know where to start.
Chloe: I see. The first thing you should do is make a simple to-do list. Just write everything down. It really helps you see what you need to do.
Liam: I've tried that, but it doesn't seem to work. I sit down to study, and the next thing I know, I'm scrolling through social media. I get so distracted.
Chloe: What do you do when you take a break?
Liam: I usually watch a few funny videos on my phone.
Chloe: That's probably not helping. That's not a real break because your brain is still processing a lot of information. When I need a break, I go for a quick five-minute walk outside. It's much better for your mental health.
Liam: A walk? You're right. I guess my physical health is something I forget about when I'm busy. It probably affects my ability to concentrate.
Chloe: Exactly! Taking care of your body is essential for taking care of your mind. You can't manage your schoolwork well if you're not feeling well.
Part 2
Mr. Harrison: Good morning, everyone, and welcome back. As we begin this new term, I want to share a few thoughts on how to make it not just successful, but also healthy and enjoyable.
First, think about what you want to achieve this term. Don't just think about grades. Perhaps you want to join a new club or learn a new skill. Having clear goals gives you direction.
Second, understand that not all tasks are created equal. You will have a lot of homework and many assignments. You must learn to set a priority. Decide what needs to be done today, and what can wait until tomorrow. This will help you focus your energy effectively.
Third, never neglect your health. And I'm not just talking about exercise, though that is very important. Your mental health is incredibly important. If you feel anxious or overwhelmed, please talk to a teacher or a counsellor. We are here to help.
By planning ahead, you can accomplish your tasks without that last-minute panic. Starting work early helps you avoid that unnecessary feeling of stress as the due dates get closer.
Remember, while good grades are a fine goal, our main wish for you is that you have a well-balanced and happy time at school. Thank you.
