Part 1
Ms. Carter: Good morning, school office. Ms. Carter speaking.
Alex: Good morning. My name is Alex. I'd like to sign up for the Time Management workshop, please.
Ms. Carter: Of course, Alex. Could I have your last name for the form?
Alex: It's Walters. That's W-A-L-T-E-R-S.
Ms. Carter: Got it. Alex Walters. And could you tell me, what is the main challenge you're facing with your time?
Alex: I think my biggest problem is that I keep delaying tasks. I know I have things to do, but I put them off until the last minute, which causes a lot of stress.
Ms. Carter: That's a very common issue. And what's your personal goal? What do you hope to achieve from this workshop?
Alex: I play the guitar, and I really enjoy it, but I feel like I never have time. I want to find a better balance between my schoolwork and my hobbies.
Ms. Carter: An excellent goal. Just one more question. How many hours would you say you study productively on a typical Saturday or Sunday?
Alex: Hmm. Well, I plan to study for maybe 6 hours, but with all the distractions, I probably only get about 4 hours of real work done.
Ms. Carter: Okay, thank you. That's very helpful. We did have a workshop last Wednesday, but that one's over. The next one is scheduled for next Tuesday, right after school. Is that okay for you?
Alex: Yes, Tuesday is perfect. Thank you very much.
Part 2
Emily: Hey David. You don't look so happy. What's wrong?
David: Hi Emily. I'm just so anxious. I feel like I'm drowning in homework and deadlines. There's a big science project, a math test coming up... it's just too much.
Emily: I know what you mean. It can be overwhelming. But you seem more stressed than usual. Are you taking any breaks?
David: Breaks? I feel like I can't afford to. When I do take a break, I just watch videos on my phone, and then an hour is gone.
Emily: See, that's not a real break. When I feel like that, I go for a short walk or just do some stretching for five minutes. It really clears my head. You should try it.
David: A walk? I guess I could. What else do you do?
Emily: I make a to-do list every morning. But the secret is, don't write 20 things on it. That's discouraging. Just pick the top three priorities for the day and focus on accomplishing those. It feels much more manageable.
David: Only three? That sounds better than my endless list. But I often stay up late to finish work. I only get about six hours of sleep.
Emily: That's a big part of the problem! If you don't sleep enough, you can't concentrate the next day, and everything takes longer. It’s a bad cycle.
David: You're probably right. It's just hard to change.
Emily: I know, but just try one or two things. If you try to manage your time a bit better, you might feel a lot less stressed. You don't have to aim for perfect grades, just a more balanced life. And you certainly don't have to give up your guitar!
David: Thanks, Emily. That actually helps a lot. I'll start with a short to-do list tomorrow.
