TAPESCRIPTS
Part 1
Michael: Excuse me, Ms. Evans? I'd like to sign up for the volunteer day.
Ms. Evans: Wonderful, Michael! Are you signing up for the bake sale to raise money for the hospital?
Michael: Oh, I thought it was the event to help clean up our neighbourhood.
Ms. Evans: Ah, yes, you're right. We have both, but you're asking about the Community Cleanup. That’s a great choice.
Michael: Phew, okay. Where should we all meet? Is it at the Community Centre like last year?
Ms. Evans: Good question. Last year it was, but this year we're all meeting at the main Park Entrance. It's easier for everyone.
Michael: The Park Entrance. Got it. And that's on Sunday, right?
Ms. Evans: We were planning for Sunday, but the weather forecast looks bad. So we've moved it to Saturday.
Michael: Okay, Saturday. What time should I be there?
Ms. Evans: Please try to be there by 9:00 a.m. so you can get your equipment. Oh, wait, sorry, that's for the team leaders. The official start time for all student volunteers is 9:30 a.m.
Michael: 9:30 a.m. Perfect. Is there anything I need to bring?
Ms. Evans: We'll provide the rubbish bags and water. The only thing you need to bring is a pair of gloves.
Michael: Great. Thank you, Ms. Evans.
Ms. Evans: You're welcome, Michael. See you there!
Part 2
Liam: Hi Olivia, how are you? It sounds noisy over there.
Olivia: Hi Liam! I'm fine, just walking downtown. You know how it is, always so bustling. How's life in the suburbs?
Liam: It's much quieter! I used to live right in the city centre, but I prefer the suburbs. There are fewer people and more green space.
Olivia: I get that. I love the energy here, but sometimes it does get a bit overwhelming. There are just so many people everywhere.
Liam: Exactly. It also affects my study habits. The more homework I get, the more difficult it is for me to balance everything. I really struggle with managing my time.
Olivia: I understand. If you feel stressed, you should find a good way to relax. For me, I joined a tennis club, and playing sports really helps clear my head. You should try it.
Liam: That's a great piece of advice, thanks. I might look for a club around here. Hey, are you free next week? We should hang out.
Olivia: Definitely! How about we meet at the park? We could go for a walk.
Liam: The park is a nice idea, but I was thinking we could try that new café that opened downtown. I've heard they have the best speciality coffee.
Olivia: Oh, that sounds even better! Let's do that.
Liam: Great! I'll text you.
