Librarian: Good morning, you've reached the New City Library. How can I help you?
Student: Hello. I'd like to ask a few questions about the library. Firstly, what are your opening hours?
Librarian: We're open from 9 AM to 8 PM on weekdays. But on weekends, Saturday and Sunday, we close a bit earlier, at 5 PM.
Student: Okay, 5 PM on weekends. I heard you have some new facilities.
Librarian: We do! We have a large section for children, and of course a big area for adults. We also just opened a brand-new space especially for teenagers, with comfortable seating and computers.
Student: That’s great! And what are the rules about food and drink in the study areas?
Librarian: You can bring drinks, like water or coffee, into the quiet study area. But we ask that you don't bring any food in. There's a small café downstairs if you get hungry.
Student: No food, I understand. Lastly, how can I get a library card?
Librarian: You just need to bring a passport... oh wait, sorry, that's for non-residents. For students like you, just showing your school ID is enough.
Student: Great, just a school ID. Is there a fee?
Librarian: There used to be a small fee of 20,000 VND. But the city decided to encourage more reading, so now it's completely free for all students.
Student: That's fantastic! Thank you for your help.
Student: Hi everyone. I've been asked to talk a bit about my experience moving to the city for university. It was a big change from my small village. The first thing I noticed was how convenient everything is. In my village, shops closed early. Here, you can buy food or anything you need at 10 PM. It makes life so much easier.
Getting around was another story. I tried taking the bus at first because it's cheap, but it was so unreliable. It was always late, and sometimes it was too crowded to get on. Now, I just use the underground metro. It's much faster.
My social life has changed a lot too. On weekends, I usually take the metro downtown to hang out with my university friends. We go to cafés or see a movie. There's always something to do.
The biggest shock, though, was the cost. It's so expensive! From my rent to a simple lunch, everything is just really pricey. It’s the main disadvantage for me.
So, even with the high cost, I wouldn't go back. For a young person, the energy and the opportunities for study and work make the city a very liveable place. I feel like I'm exactly where I need to be right now.
